From Saint Louis to Denver
My journey began in a small garage in Saint Louis, Missouri, where I spent my early years teaching in the Riverview Gardens School District and building side tables, picture frames, and cutting boards for friends. I scavenged free or inexpensive lumber from job sites, neighborhood trash piles, and a local spot called ReFab in South City. I loved the challenge of taking discarded materials and giving them a second life, creating pieces that still hang in my home today.
A trip through the mountains of Colorado and the desert of Utah changed everything. I knew I needed to move West.
Learning the Craft
When I landed in Denver, I was fortunate to walk into Holtz Custom Wood and Metal, a shop that shaped me as a craftsman. For years, I honed my skills there, learning the balance between artisanal precision and functional design. I owe a great deal to the crew who taught me the techniques I still use today.
When COVID hit and the shop closed, my path shifted again. A friend opened the door to the general contracting world, where I spent the next few years building multifamily housing across Denver and the Front Range. I learned the bones of a building, led subcontractors, and walked units with city inspectors, ultimately helping turn over more than 1,500 units.
Back to the Craft
Now, I'm returning to the passion that started it all. I bring an eye for detail, a love for reclaimed wood, and a commitment to craftsmanship shaped by every step along the way, from that first garage in Saint Louis to the custom work I build in Denver today.
